Pace and time calculator

Fill in two of the three values — distance, time and pace — and the third is calculated. The result also estimates the classic distances at the same pace.

The longer-distance estimates assume the same pace throughout, which rarely holds in practice: over a marathon, pace typically drops 5–10% in the second half.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between pace and speed?

Pace is time per kilometre, speed is distance per hour. A 6:00 min/km pace is 10 km/h.

What walking pace counts as brisk?

Above 5.6 km/h, meaning under roughly 10:43 min/km. At that pace breathing deepens but conversation is still possible.

Can I predict a marathon from my 10 km time?

Roughly, but not by simple multiplication. The Riegel formula, which raises the distance ratio to the power 1.06, gets much closer.
